OTO-CURE INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Shake the medicine bottle before you start. OTO-CURE contains a couple of different
ingredients, antibiotics and steroids prepared for chronic inner ear infections and they will mix
easily. Store at room temperature.
Before administering OTO-CURE, you can warm it under the hot water faucet. If it’s warmer the
patient will not object so much.
Treating with OTO-CURE will soften all debris in the ear of your dog or cat. Each time, before
treatment, wipe out the debris that has worked its way up to the top with a tissue and your finger
tip. Eventually debris will be eliminated. DO NOT insert Q-tips into the ear canal of your pet for
cleaning.
You must use enough OTO-CURE to fill the ear canal in one or both ears of your dog. This will
amount to between one and two droppers full. Not drops but droppers full. By droppers full, I mean
as much as you can pull up in the dropper.
Get help holding your pet in the right position, laying on the right side to treat the left ear and
vice versa. Administer OTO-CURE as quickly as possible to both ears. Then massage at the base
of the ears. You should even hear it “slosh around” in the ear. If you hear the “slosh” you have
used enough. Due to pet size, larger dogs will use more OTO-CURE than smaller dogs or cats.
Your pet will naturally want to shake its head after treatment. That’s fine just select a place to do
the treatment where a little mess is OK.
It is important that you seamlessly continue treatment until the ear condition has improved and is
under control. So, don’t run out of OTO-CURE!
You CANNOT use too much OTO-CURE. But you CAN use too little. Make sure the medicine gets
DEEP into the ear canal. To accomplish this the ear canal should be held open.
Administer once a day for about three days or until you see improvement. Then treat every other
day for about a week or ten days then decrease use again, until condition is under control.
With remaining OTO-CURE, treat preventively every month or so.
You will learn when you have to treat and when not Each case is a little different. If you don’t get
the results you need, have cultures done at your Vet’s office.
Your pet’s ear condition may recur. Try to have OTO-CURE on hand when it does and treat
immediately.
Keep this and all medicine out of the reach of children. We need to have a prescription on hand
for you so be sure to email me with your complete name and address (if I don’t have it already)
and the name and breed of your dog or cat.
